So here I was, over and over again, in situations where I would want to learn to create time but I just didn't know what to do. And I didn't know what would happen if I DID do something. I was afraid of the unknown. Questions like ‘how would I track someone working in another state or even another country’ played in my mind like a broken record. Eventually, this led me to believe that there was probably something wrong with ME - that I should just accept and deal with it... that I was one of the ‘losers’ who just had to accept reality and deal with it – even if it wasn’t what I wanted.
Ever been there?
THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION...
Well, when I finally made the decision to learn about how to create time and outsource and it changed my perspective and even my world view. It was as if I was a different person. So I went to work…but the thing I had to work at, believe it or not, was to actually become LAZIER. Yes, as crazy as it sounds, I had to lose all of those habits that I had developed of working hard and simply adapt some new habits. Everytime I got that urge to start working hard and putting my own blood, sweat and tears in…I had to
step back and say ‘Is this my highest and best use of time right now?’ The answer was usually a big fat NO. That meant that I needed to now start using that thing between my ears to put together systems that would work with or without me. With a little practice, that became fun and I learned how to be creative with my systems and how to implement them over and over. Whoever thought becoming LAZIER would pay off!
Here's what I learned...
To begin with, I had to be extremely honest with myself and stop acting like I really enjoyed what I was doing with my time. Many of us just go around saying that we ‘like our jobs’ or ‘we love what we do’ when in reality, we hate the idea of getting up
everyday and going anywhere. Once you get clear and stop making the excuse that you like what you do, then things can really start to happen…
Explained differently, out of the many times I’ve really sat down with someone and got CLEAR with them on what their next step is…it usually was successful when they were at the point of saying, ‘I really don’t like what I do. I wish I could spend my time differently and what I really desire in my life is FREEDOM.’
